Just like cherry cola

A Story: My daughter Lola is thirteen, and at this juncture, I’m not expected to get any smarter in the next few years.

The Cliff Notes: Translucent deep red is the color it throws. The nose is a luxury hippie van driving through a strawberry field — in other words, deep musk and spice. The attack is deafening red fruit, substantial in its concentration, veering alternately between pomegranate and black cherry. At its core, our pinnacle wine is not about overwhelming you, but instead telling the story of the site. After six years of ageing, Cuvee Lola speaks to unmarked beauty, simplicity, perhaps some form of universal luxury, without overplaying.

The Building of: These were our two highest-graded barrels in the cellar from 2016. They were wild-yeast fermented in wood and stainless steel, 100% barrel aged for 17 months in French oak (one once-filled, one neutral). Bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2018, thereafter cellared for five years before release.

Ageability: Absolutely decant to get it air within its first three years. You can anticipate additional complexity during its first 15 years, with a potential 10- to 20-year drinking horizon.

Vineyards: The grapes, farmed by the JKC team, are from our organic St. Dolores Estate high on Parrett Mtn in the Chehalem Mtns AVA. One barrel derives from our Pommard-clone Short Rows block behind the winery, counter-balanced by our best barrel of Wadenswil clone from our TR View block.
