Much lovely, nothing extraneous.

A Story: My daughter Lola, like this wine, is just a very cool girl. 

The Cliff Notes:Red with an ever-so-slight bricking is the color it wears. On the nose it’s deep effusive cherry, cherry cheesecake, and Worcestershire, transforming towards perfectly grilled venison with a raspberry-apricot reduction, plus cherry, alfalfa and black pepper. The wine throws a crazy attack of acid and energy belying its age, pomegranite, fresh cherry, orange, smoked meat and finishing on the absolute finest tannins. This wine will cut through any dish, no matter how heavy and, with nothing extraneous, will bring out its essence.

The Building of:This is the top wine out of our cellar, only built in years that warrant it. It comprises less than 50 cases, our best barrel each from our two top vineyards, selected. It was wild-yeast fermented in stainless, 100% barrel aged for 15 months in French oak (one twice-filled, one neutral). Bottled unfined and unfiltered in December 2022, and cellared in our caves for more than five years before release.

Ageability: Absolutely decant to get it air within its first three years. Well cellared you should anticipate additional complexity and aplomb over its 10 to 20-year drinking horizon.

Vineyards: One best-barrel is from our Dry-Farmed, Certified Organic JKC: St. Dolores Estate planted in 2009 at the winery on Parrett Mtn. in the Chehalem Mtns. AVA. The other best-barrel is from the oldest block of fruit from Temperance Hill’s 1981 planted,Dry-Farmed, Certified Organic vineyard,high in the Eola Hills AVA. High on hills with similar volcanic soils, these vineyards consistently deliver amazing flavors at a naturally low yield.
